once in a while, i see something that makes me pause and appreciate how nature can create such amazingly beautiful materials.  at the stone yard yesterday, we saw two unique slabs– the first, meteorus granite is filled with mica and looks like a floral painting or wallpaper with an iridescent sheen – very, very glam.  the second, pearl white quartzite is cool and crisp with greens and turquoise, resembling an iceberg. Both definitely require a special space and consideration.  i could see the meteorus in a formal powder room on top of a traditional washstand with a crisp white wainscott running behind and wallpaper above.  the quartzite would be stunning in a white, minimal bathroom.  this slab would make the ultimate tub surround– a dreamy box of stone to soak in.
